Once a lime green service kitchen...
Had one sink and a lot of unused/covered space for cabinetry.
And the dream/request was to turn this into a full kitchenette for a mother-in-law suite.
First step...demolition!
Getting down to the bare bones...
and finding any foundational repairs and/or leveling needed.
Caleb found a completely out-of-use water heater in the wall he was able to remove to give more cabinet space!
And once you have only what you need for your electrical, plumbing, & level floors...
it's time for drywall!
Cabinet installation came in and butcher block countertops were selected. Caleb was sure to do oil treatments to seal and protect them.
And once the appliances are in...
she's just about ready for full kitchenette use!

Turning this "library" into...
a space...
used as a mother-in-law suite.
After pulling up the carpet, Caleb found the ground needed to be leveled.
Floor leveling was needed all the way into the hall. And outdated wall covering was removed.
It was then time to install the vinyl flooring.
He even enclosed what was once sliding glass doors with a wall to add additional privacy and insulation.
Here's what the wall looked like from the outside (before paint) from the back porch.
Next comes the drywall.
Closets added framing the (non-working) fireplace.
Flooring done, pass-through/serving window turned into buffet area to eat and/or work with more of the butcher block counter continued..
This 1/2 bathroom was a hot mess even before we started the demolition!
odd small cabinets over the small shower. It was so small, Caleb could lean his head onto the wall in front of him while on the toilet.
And the door would open into the bathroom hitting the small sink/cabinet. However, you could not use the sink or cabinets until you went...
inside the bathroom and closed the door.
So it was time for a change!
Demolition time! Get down to the bare bones!
Installing a new shower.
Caleb's making sure the awkward entrance to the attic, is sealed off properly and attractively while providing proper ventilation.
Once the plumbing is set up properly, the shower can be installed.
Next came the shiplap walls and lighting.
And with several coats of paint, it's just about done.
